Air Fryers
Safety Tips for Air Fryers: Air fryers are a relatively new and welcome addition to our kitchens providing quick, healthy meal options that are energy efficient. Like all cooking appliances they use heating elements.
In air fryers these elements heat air which circulates around the food to cook it quickly and efficiently without the need for additional fat. As with other appliances that use heat, air fryers need to be treated with care. Here are some common-sense tips to ensure your air fryer continues to work well and safely:
Markings/Instructions and Vent Location: AMDEA recommends purchasing air fryers from well-known brands, avoid purchasing from an unknown brand on an online marketplace. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. We recommend checking the location of vents and the direction of vented heat. Switch off the air fryer at the socket when not in use.
Air Vents: Do not block air vents from the outside and ensure that the air fryer vent is not close to a socket or other flammable material. Ensure you do not block internal air vents with paper, foil or any other material.
Place the air fryer on a counter away from anything flammable, such as tea towels or paper towels, and ensure that your air fryer is not directly situated under kitchen cabinets during use and do not place on top of a stove or hob when using.
Cleanliness and Maintenance: Keeping the appliance clean according to the manufacturer’s instructions and ensure that heating elements are cleaned of any grease. Wait for the air fryer to cool down before cleaning. Do not immerse the fryer in water.
Food Preparation: Do not put oil directly into the air fryer, is important to apply any oils or sprays directly to the food rather than to the air fryer tray or other parts of the air fryer.
